At the start of 2011 a haggard as fuck 03 plate ZR appeared in my driveway bought of fleabay as a damged repairable that had rolled down a hill and hit another car via a handbrake failure, or so we where told. Examining the damage and finding more than the front end dinged we done some digging and it turns out that the owners son took it for a joy ride and crashed it.
Here's how it looked day 1
Both quarter panels bent and rusted, bonnet was creased from the accident, the tailgate was bent the rear bumper cracked and te exhaust bent up and in from where the owner had clearly reversed into a ballard.
New body work was bought including a set of side skirts to complete the body and internal work began, this car leaked like a 90 year old woman having a sneezing fit, sunroof seals had to be replaced an then hit with tiger seal, the tail lights had to be sealed and then sealer around the inside once fitted.
Once everything was sealed up engine work began the head was pulled of to check the condition and the head gasket replaced, then the gearbox was dropped to track down a huge judder issue it had, turns out the clutch was shagged so it was replaced and everything put back together and the car was set off to be painted, and the wheels powder coated.
Then came the interior, the car came with the "matrix" interior seen here (not my image)
which in my opinion look pretty gash so I tracked down a set of the red "Monaco" seats seen here I also bought fitted floor mats to match, they even say ZR in red, and a gear baited with red stitch and a cheap shift knob. and upon the addition of a St. Andrews saltire MG badge the car was done
Until this happened.
The release bearing blew up in the gearbox taking the fork with it so I put a nice new clutch it and took the chance to replace seals and bushings that where looking about gubbed as well as a notching CV joint.
