It all started with this:
About 4 years ago, my dad purchased this S13 for my brother as his 19th birthday gift.
Specs at the time: Pretty much just bone stock apart from the aesthetic mods. It was an auto with 160-170ks on the odo.
And then he crashed it...
Replaced all the panels with mismatching ones and it then looked like this:
After a few months, my brother got a bit upset at people laughing at his mismatched car so my dad decided to give auto-painting a shot.
It didn't turn out that bad, to be honest. It was just never cleared or buffed. We also got some lowered springs for it:
And then after a while, my brother just stopped caring about it and it turned into a pig, but not the cool kind.
He found some motivation after getting his hands on a cheap S15 SR20DE+manual gearbox and everything he needed for a conversion.
Aaaaand
*boop*
And then nothing much happened to the car. That is, until i got my hands on it.
I just straight up tore it apart.
The reason for doing that is because, i thought it'd be a good idea to have a shot at painting. This time, i was going to do the whole car, and also change out the carpets and fix it up a little, here and there. I will now post the pictures in chronological order:
Take a small break from that barrage of pictures.
So yeah, that was the car taken from prep to paint. I made a few mistakes along the way but it turned out pretty good for someone who's never done it before. And especially seeing as i did in my backyard with a lot of dust, insects and humidity.
So anyway, lets get back to it.
4 days later, while buffing. I dun goofed..
I still haven't gotten around to fixing it up. Might do that these holidays actually.
About a month passes and then i buy some new wheels:
Got my guards rolled & pulled too
And then i started to fix patches of orange peel:
Car had some idling issues a while ago, felt like it was air related.
Took the throttle body off for a clean and yep.
So i gave that a good ol' clean and it turned out really nice
and idle issues no more.
It does still hesitate a bit when i'm launching and it sometimes feels as though the clutch doesn't fully engage. Kinda feels like it's slipping. Might be time for a new clutch...
Anyways, the most recent thing i did was not all that exciting but looks pretty cool.
Went from this:
to this:
to this:
The colour really matched a lot better than i thought, it looks quite cool.
Got rid of those nasty king springs to begin with
Also continued with my cutting & buffing and got around to doing the whole car
Also picked up a pair of powerrails and your regular drift bucket seats as the stock ones were beyond f*cked and i couldn't get my hands on any decent condition S15 ones at the time.
They sit a bit higher than the stock seat but i'm a little short, so it works out well for me
Also started making this custom boot thing, that i thought was a good idea at the time. It needs some refinement to really be good though
Wrapped it with whatever i could find, but i only had enough curtain for half of it (i've since wrapped the other half in bed sheet btw. Only the finest for this car)
I got a bit sick of the white wheels too, so figured it was about time for a change:
Also finally got rid of my manky ass passenger door card and replaced it with a nice new pair of door cards:
Got a DCC and a headunit with a rear USB in so i don't have any cables or anything hanging off the front of it, which keeps my car looking nice and clean. I love it.
And most recently, picked up some weather guards to hopefully stop water going straight into my face when the windows are down with a bit of rain outside.
